Reducing radiation children and mobile phones.

If you do decide to your child a phone, then…

Do not give them on old one with a small aerial in the top – these concentrate the radiation emissions right by the skull.

I have gone for an HTC One smartphone as the one that doses me least with microwave radiation in daily use.

They are a top end smartphone but support internet pass through – i.e. the phone will connect to the internet via a USB cable to any PC with the HTC software on.  On Amazon they are priced from £115 upwards.

I don’t know of another manufacturer that supports this. All smartphones seem to need large downloads to support software updates which on other phones means lots of radiation from their data function.

At any time when near a PC with the HTC software connecting to the internet with a USB cable – it also charges the phone.

In use:

  1. switch off all the transmitters except 3G phone-and-text – that means 4G, bluetooth, wifi, position, nfc, and data. The battery life is at least doubled.
  2. temporarily switch on data only when needed. Get your child to learn how to use the usual apps – facebook etc. on their wired PC and with a wired connection to their phone at home..
  3. never put a microwave transmitter (cordless and mobiles) to your head, always carry it in a bag, never in a pocket
  4. always use an air tube headset (single ear – stereo ones are dangerous because you cannot hear what is going on around you and tangle a lot) and keep it plugged in so that you answer the phone by headset and hold the phone a good distance from the head when using it. Speaker-phone mode is not so good – it means transmitters closer to the head, are overheard and usually affected by background noise. Using the airtube headset – radiation to your brain is roughly 10,000 times less than compared to using the phone held to your ear.
  5. you can use screening phone holders but they do nothing to reduce radiation (any attempt to shield a phone means they ramp up their power).
  6. also blobs and buttons and stickers cannot counteract the powerful radiation ever, fully – if at all.
  7. at night switch off totally and charge at least 2m from the bed.
  8. consider getting your child to wear protective clothing for school. Looks ordinary but contains silver thread which reflects microwaves.

I tried to hardwire a new Samsung phone 18 months ago and it couldn’t! HTC do and it works well.

Health risks of mobile phones – mitigated through the use of an airtube headset

Airtube headsets are thought by many doctors and scientists to be safer because they reduce microwave and other EM fields exposure massively for the user of mobile phones.
Why are they different? The airtube is an empty tube that carries the sound from a little loudspeaker in the microphone dongle which is 270mm away from the user’s ear.
Airtube headsets have the advantage of massively reducing the health risks of mobile phones and radiation exposure experienced by the user from a mobile phone or cordless phone, particularly to the user’s head. This works in 2 ways – the Which Report measured increased radiation on ordinary wire headsets that picked up the mobile phone radiation – airtube headsets stop this happening and also do not have audio frequency magnetic fields from the ordinary earpiece near your ear nerve.

Other methods to reduce the health risks of mobile phones include:

  • Disabling WiFi and data (3G/4G) when not needed
  • Putting the mobile phone into ‘flight mode’ when not using it
  • Putting the mobile phone into ‘flight mode’ or turning it off when sleeping
  • Placing the phone away from your body when turning the mobile phone on (from off)
  • Placing the phone away from your body when making a call (connection) – especially when the signal is weak

Mobile Phones and Cancer

Epidemiological studies have begun to show us that low-frequency, non-ionizing electromagnetic radiation correlates with cancer. *

In recent years, a significant share of research into EMF radiation has investigated the impact of mobile phones and cancer.

In 2009, the Journal of Clinical Oncology published findings of a team of seven scientists, who reviewed 23 epidemiological studies on the link between mobile phones and cancer. The team concluded:

although as a whole the data varied, among the 10 higher quality studies, we found a harmful association between cell [mobile] phone use and tumor risk [cancer]. The lowest quality studies, which failed to meet scientific best practices, were primarily industry funded.
The 13 studies that investigated cell phone use fo 10 or more years found a significant harmful association with tumor risk, especially for brain tumors, giving us ample reason for concern about long-term use.

The point about long term exposure is important, many industry funded studies are based on short term exposure and these studies often conclude there is no link between mobile phones and cancer (or indeed other sources of EMF). These results also suggest that, as with tobacco smoke, cancer may be a long-term result based on repeated and/or extended exposures to EM radiation sources.

Other recent research out of Israel reinforces these findings. Israelis are heavy mobile phone users who, on average, increased cell phone usage six-fold between 1997 and 2006. In 2008 Dr. Siegal Sadetzki published a study in the American Journal of Epidemiology that concluded heavy mobile phone users (at least 22 hours per month) were at least 50% more likely to develop cancer of the parotid gland (one of the salivary glands) than those who never or rarely used mobile phones.

In 2011 a review of deaths between 1970 and 2006 from Israel’s National Cancer Registry found that ‘the total number of parotid gland cancers in Israel increased from 4-fold from 1970 to 2006, whereas other major salivary gland cancers remained constant. This result can be thought of as a control experiment. During this period, when parotid gland cancer was inceasing in Israel along with mobile phone use, cancer of the submandibular and sublingual glands (shielded from mobile phone radiation by the jaw bone and tongue, respectively remained constant.

So what can you do to protect yourself from mobile phones and cancer?

  • Use an airtube headset or speaker mode
  • Disable wireless and data when not needed
  • Put the mobile phone into ‘airplane mode’ when not needed at all
  • Do not keep your mobile phone in your pocket
  • Turn off the mobile phone (or ‘airplane’ mode) at night before sleeping

Microwave Radiation

Microwaves are a form of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths ranging from one metre to one millimetre; with frequencies between 300 MHz (100 cm) and 300 GHz (0.1 cm).

Mobile/cell phones use electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range.

Other digital wireless systems, such as data communication networks (WiFi), produce similar microwave radiation.

The International Agency for Research on Cancer in 2011 classified mobile/cell phone microwave radiation as Group 2B – possibly carcinogenic.

What can you do to protect yourself from these possible carcinogens?

Use a wired (Ethernet) solution when connecting to your Wifi router at home (disable Wireless on the router or shield the router & remember to disable the WiFi mode on your laptop.

Switch of the WiFi router when asleep or not in use.

Use your mobile/cell phone at least 15mm (as per manufacturer’s recommendations) away from your body.

Use your mobile/cell phone on speaker mode or better still use an airtube headset (available here).

 

Radiation Free Headsets

Mobile phone and cordless phones radiate microwaves.  Holding these phones away from your head reduces the radiation absorbed by your brain by a significant factor.

It allows you to comply with the manufacturers’ safety guidance of never to use a mobile phone within 15mm (more than half an inch) from your skin.

You can use speaker mode – not private and picks up external noise.

Ordinary headsets supplied by the manufacturers radiate the brain because the wire acts as an aerial and the speaker puts potentially carcinogenic magnetic fields directly into your ear.

The dongle not only contains the on/off button but also the speaker.

An AIRTUBE – a soft, comfortable, hollow tube with only air in it – carries the sound up to the hollow earpiece.

Technically, an airtube headset is very simple and reliable and reduces the key sources of radiation by an enormous amount.

Ex head of the World Health Organisation warns on mobile phone usage.

One of the world’s most respected people – a leader in sustainability, a peacemaker, 3 times prime minister of Norway – Gro Harlem Bruntland has hinted before that she experiences symptoms of electrosensitivity – but in a recent inetrview has clearly stated that she immediatley gets headaches if she puts a mobile phone to her head.

Noel Edmonds is a TV celebrity in the UK. He has spoken his mind on something which is affecting the lives of an increasing number of us.

Electrosmog is real. It is the international name for electromagnetic pollution which is recognized by many authorities and governments around the world. The United Nations cancer committee the IARC categorises electrosmog as a class 2B carcinogen because of its proven links to cancer in animals. France has recently outlawed Wi-Fi in crèches and limited use primary schools because of the health risks. Over 200+ of professional scientists have recently written to Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations to request that permitted electrosmog levels to be reduced significantly. The scientists want electrosmog classified the same as smoking.

Increasingly people are exhibiting symptoms of electrosensitivity such as headaches, palpitations, memory loss, fatigue, sleeplessness. Reducing radiation exposure levels often clears up the condition.

Green Building Standards SBM 2015

Green buildings often have unhealthy interiors designed to minimise energy consumption and not the well being of the biological  occupants  – whether human, animal or plant. The Building Biology movement has been working to change that with over 6000 people, architects, doctors, surveyors, material suppliers, etc. trained to create interiors which promote life within the built environment.

Germany’s Building Biologists have issued an important update to the SBM 2008 standards – now called SBM 2015.

This standard defines recommendations for how to measure how green the interior of your building is for human, animal and plant biology – so how healthy your house is to live in rather than the narrow usual definition of green building standards which look at how much energy the building consumes.

Doctors and researchers from Boston to Sydney are sounding the alarm on the potential risks of using wireless devices during pregnancy, calling for a closer look at technology they say could have serious long-term consequences for 
unborn babies.

The group of doctors suggests pregnant women avoid carrying their cellphones on or near their bodies, and use their smartphones on a speaker setting or with an airtube headset.

Airtube headsets are safer because the phone is further from the users body.
